There are many people who wish to remain in their own homes despite being frail and elderly, disabled, sick or vulnerable. Recent government policy supports the idea that with effective and caring support, most people will enjoy a better quality of life if they are able to remain independent.
Our services make independent living possible and offer care-givers the opportunity to use their limited resources more effectively. As providers of a vital support service, we can create a strong link between vulnerable people living at home and the care community. We work in partnership with NHS Trusts, sheltered housing providers, social services departments, care agencies and local authorities and voluntary organisations. We are able to quickly assess what is required, install and maintain equipment to the highest standard, tailor our services to fit specific operational needs and deliver a high quality service within strict financial limits.
NHS Trusts
We have developed a strong relationship with the NHS and have been appointed as a supply partner to the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA) for telecare equipment and services.
In fact, our services play a key role in enabling forward-thinking Trusts to achieve priorities set out in the NHS Improvement Plan. Telecare and telehealth provides clinicians with the opportunity to manage the care of patients with long-term conditions at home, helping to prevent the need for admissions to hospital, speeding up hospital discharges, reducing the need for nursing home care and cutting down on home visits by clinicians and carers.
The result is improved recovery times and quality of life for the patient, whilst at the same time Trusts can free up beds and manage resources more efficiently.
Housing Providers
We work in close partnership with 37 separate housing organisations to provide sheltered and supported housing residents, with high quality, cost effective monitoring and response services. We place great emphasis on shaping our services to meet the specifications of different organisations we work with.
Providing professional advice is fundamental to the service we provide. Our experience enables us to offer expert guidance and devise the most appropriate telecare solutions for any situation, both private individuals and groups.
Emergency Services
In order to ensure a fully responsive service, we build effective working relationships with all the emergency services in order to be confident of full and appropriate backup if problems arise.
At present we are developing a Community Falls Response Service in partnership with South East Coast Ambulance Service which aims to help those prone to falling maintain their independence by providing them with short-term support and assistance at home immediately following falls involving no injury or minor injury.
We also work closely with Sussex Police to support people who are victims of crime or living in fear of crime.
Social Services
East Sussex County Council Social Services Department has awarded WEL the contract to develop a countywide telecare service. The County Council has been allocated funding under the government's Preventative Technology Grant to assist with this project. We work day-to-day with colleagues in social services and all other social care providers in the interests of their clients.
Voluntary sector
We also work with a wide variety of organisations concerned with providing support for vulnerable people.
Complete systems back up
For added security, all our systems are fully backed up by a leading industry partner so that our customers can be assured of an uninterrupted service.
