Private individuals of all ages
WEL can help anyone who wants the reassurance of knowing that their day-to-day welfare is being monitored and that help can be rapidly summoned. Others are simply interested in improving overall security. Our sensitive staff are trained to provide the best possible advice on the most appropriate package and can install and maintain advanced Telecare equipment. If a problem is detected, alerts can be routed through our own response centre or to a friend or relative.
Elderly people
Many elderly people wish to retain their dignity and privacy by continuing to live in their own home for as long as possible. WEL can offer these clients, as well as their carers, friends and relatives, the reassurance of knowing that their welfare is being discretely monitored 24 hours a day. As the needs of elderly clients will differ, WEL can devise a unique package of products to suit individual needs.
Disabled people
Our services help to empower more vulnerable members of the community to lead a 'normal' life. Disability can impact on an individual's day to day living in very different ways. Our sensitive staff can carry out an assessment and recommend a package of products which support specific difficulties. For instance, the following products are recommended for those with hearing impairment, visual impairment or physical impairment:
- Hearing impaired - sounder beacon, big button phone, smoke detector, flood detector, pillow alert solution, user pager, temperature extremes sensor, CO detector, PIRs
- Visually impaired - visual call beacon, big button phone, smoke detector, flood detector, bed occupancy sensor, carer pager, temperature extremes sensor, CO detector, PIRs
- Physically impaired - fall detector, PIRs (inactivity monitoring), pull cord, bed occupancy sensor, big button phone, pressure mat, smoke detector, flood detector, CO detector, temperature extremes sensor, environmental control, user alert pager, pillow alert solution, sounder beacon, keyless door entry.
People with short term illness, such as complex pregnancy
Our services can provide support to those with short-term illness, such as complex pregnancy.
People who are long-term sick or convalescing
Most patients prefer to be in their own home whenever possible. Patients who are convalescing recover more quickly and those with long-term conditions enjoy a better quality of life. Our services can support those suffering a range of medical conditions, such as dementia, epilepsy and diabetes.
- Dementia - property exit sensor, bed occupancy sensor, flood detector temperature extremes sensor, CO detector, natural gas detector, gas shut off valve, enuresis sensor
- Epilepsy - Fall detector, epilepsy sensor, PIRs, pull cord, bed occupancy sensor, flood detector, smoke detector
- Diabetes - Fall detector, PIRs, flood detector, smoke detector, temperature extremes sensor
Our Telehealth service can enable patients whose vital signs need regular monitoring the opportunity to send this all-important data direct to healthcare practitioners from home.
People at risk of falling
WEL can provide sensors which trigger an alarm that summons immediate help if an individual should fall. We operate our Falls Response Service in partnership with South East Coast Ambulance Service. This aims to help fallers maintain their independence by providing short term support and assistance at home immediately following falls which resulted in little or no injury.
People at risk of violence and abuse
Anyone living with the threat of abuse or violence inside or outside the home can suffer a high level of stress and anxiety. WEL can give clients the reassurance of knowing that intruders can be detected and help summoned 24 hours a day.
- Domestic violence - PIR, bogus caller button, panic button
- Racial harassment - PIR, bogus caller button, panic button
- Stalker - PIR, bogus caller button, panic button
NHS Trusts
We have developed a strong relationship with the NHS and have been appointed as a supply partner to the NHS Purchasing and Supply Agency (PASA) for telecare equipment and services.
In fact, our services play a key role in enabling forward-thinking Trusts to achieve priorities set out in the NHS Improvement Plan. Telecare and telehealth provides clinicians with the opportunity to manage the care of patients with long-term conditions at home, helping to prevent the need for admissions to hospital, speeding up hospital discharges, reducing the need for nursing home care and cutting down on home visits by clinicians and carers.
The result is improved recovery times and quality of life for the patient, whilst at the same time Trusts can free up beds and manage resources more efficiently.
Housing Providers
We work in close partnership with 37 separate housing organisations to provide sheltered and supported housing residents, with high quality, cost effective monitoring and response services. We place great emphasis on shaping our services to meet the specifications of different organisations we work with.
Providing professional advice is fundamental to the service we provide. Our experience enables us to offer expert guidance and devise the most appropriate telecare solutions for any situation, both private individuals and groups.
Emergency Services
In order to ensure a fully responsive service, we build effective working relationships with all the emergency services in order to be confident of full and appropriate backup if problems arise.
At present we are developing a Community Falls Response Service in partnership with South East Coast Ambulance Service which aims to help those prone to falling maintain their independence by providing them with short-term support and assistance at home immediately following falls involving no injury or minor injury.
We also work closely with Sussex Police to support people who are victims of crime or living in fear of crime.
Social Services
East Sussex County Council Social Services Department has awarded WEL the contract to develop a countywide telecare service. The County Council has been allocated funding under the government's Preventative Technology Grant to assist with this project. We work day-to-day with colleagues in social services and all other social care providers in the interests of their clients.
Private, public and voluntary care providers
We work with a wide variety of organisations which provide care to more vulnerable members of the community. We can assess needs and give advice on Telecare equipment, carry out an installation to the highest standards and provide full and sympathetic backup through our response centre. We also provide an important point of contact for all those involved in an individual's care.
Police
We work with law enforcement agencies to improve security for those who may be vulnerable to violence and abuse. We can install and maintain a range of Telecare equipment, such as intruder protection or a bogus caller button.
Employers
Most employers understand that they have a legal and moral responsibility to make working conditions as safe as possible.
There are all kinds of situations where employees can be placed at a high level of personal risk:
- Employees working alone in remote locations
- Those who work with patients, clients, customers, students and their parents who are known to have a history of violence or threatening behaviour
- People whose work involves exchanging money with the public, those who work late at night
- Those guarding valuables or money
- People who job involves lifting or moving heavy objects
Our services offer affordable and flexible solutions through Telecare and a range of wireless smart sensors, such as : radio trigger, fall detector, movement detector, pressure mat, smoke detector, flood detector, carbon monoxide detector, pull cord.
With our services, individuals can be protected across a wide area and help can be summoned at any time, day or night. Services can also be linked to existing alarms and sensors can also trigger the turning on or off of devices in dangerous situations - i.e. water, lights, gas.
