Welbeing proudly sponsored a community activity organised by a team of young people on the National Citizen Service (NCS) based in Wealden, Kent. NCS is a youth programme for 15 to 17 years-old where summer activities are organised over four weeks, each with different challenges designed to push and inspire young people.
The team were all local students from the surrounding areas and called themselves ‘Wealden Minds In Action’. They decided to spend the two weeks of the ‘community action’ section of the project by raising awareness and funds for a charity called Young Minds – a charity that raises funds for young people and their families affected by mental health issues.
Welbeing sponsored the group’s paints and materials enabling them to paint a mural in Uckfield by the Civic Centre. This colourful artwork was designed and painted by the team. The two-day event saw the team taking part in radio shows to raise awareness as well as holding a bake sale and collection where stickers that the team had designed where handed out within the local Tesco. The team also made handmade bracelets in the charities colours and raised £446.33 for Young Minds.
Heather Newell, National Citizen Service Summer Team Leader said “I would like to thank Welbeing for their support of our team and sponsorship. This important project could not have been completed without their generosity and it has shown that Welbeing is a company that truly supports both the younger and older generations within Wealden. Thank you.”
Steve Smith, CEO at Welbeing added: “Welbeing were delighted to be able to support a National Citizen Service local community project that in turn was raising money for such a worthwhile charity. The end results are fantastic and well done to all the students involved”.
