Our flood detector provides early warnings of potential flood situations, such as the bath overflowing. The flood detector can be placed under the sink or in the bathroom next to the toilet or under the bath.
If the detector senses water, the unit will provide two types of alarm. The first is a local audible alarm and the second will activate the Lifeline home unit, which will automatically raise a call at the monitoring centre.
Extra protection to individuals who are likely to be at risk from leaving taps turned on, such as those with dementia.
How does it work?
The flood detector has three sensors. When two of the sensors make contact with water it provides two types of alarm – the first is an alarm raised in the home and the second sends a signal to the contact centre allowing the operator to make the most appropriate and immediate action to be taken.
Why is it needed?
A blocked sink, toilet, or taps being left on unattended could quickly lead to a flood causing damage to carpets, decorations and electrical equipment with potentially dangerous consequences. The after effects of a flood could not only result in extensive repair costs and increased insurance premium but also long term damage to health, particularly in winter.
What is telecare?
Telecare helps to manage risk and support independence by means of unobtrusive wireless sensors placed around the home which detect possible problems such as smoke, gas, flood or a person falling.
